John SKILLEN , son of William SKILLING (1811?-1884) and Ann SKILLING (1809?-1899), was born in 1832 (approx.) in Killinchy, Down, Ireland. He was baptised on 26 March 1833 in Killinchy, Down, Ireland. He married Ann DUDGEON on 2 March 1860 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1861 he was resident in Pather Street, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He appeared in the census in 1861 in Cambusnethan. In 1866 he was resident in Bothwell, Lanarshire, Scotland.
