In 1838 Henry was jointly charged with his cousin John Searle (James's son) and Zachariah Churcher with theft of a copper pot from The Royal George in, Worthing. Bailed to appear at the 1838 Easter Quarter Sessions in Petworth, James was the only one found Guilty and sentenced to 6 weeks hard labour. Source - Michael Searle - The best Mad I Had.
