Henry William Meacham Aged 20 Brown hair, light grey eyes, fresh complexion, oval visage, height 5'3 ½" Boatman. Sapperton
10th July 1843 Charged on the oath of Henry Meacham and others with having at Sapperton on the 8th July instant feloniously stolen 37 sovereigns the property of the said Henry Meecham.

George Meecham, aged 15, and Henry W Meecham, aged 20, were charged with stealing, at Sapperton, on 8th July, thirty seven sovereigns, the property of Henry Meecham.
This was a cruel and unnatural robbery. The prosecutor and his wife are a very aged couple and the money stolen was the savings of a long life.
The prisoners were their grand- children, and on the day in question, they visited the old people, and shortly after they had gone away, the box which contained the money was found to be broken in pieces, and the money gone.
Information of this robbery having been given to the Police, the prisoners were apprehended in a beer shop, at Stroud, when thirty three sovereigns and some shillings were found upon one of them, and some coppers on the other.
The money was given to the committing magistrates, and will be returned to the aged couple.
Verdict Guilty; Seven months hard labour.
